About DJ James Calamera

I'm a San Francisco Bay Area DJ that plays a variety of dance music including House, Hip Hop, Latin, Trance, Electro, Rock & Alternative. After 20+ years of DJ'ing, the goal of this podcast is to serve up classic tunes -- from my turntables to your iPod. ABOUT ME:

My first work experience in nightclubs came during college in 1984 at Boston's "Metro" (15 Lansdowne St.) where I operated the lighting, laser, and special effects. In 1989 I began spinning records in California at the Woods Resort on the Russian River. For 10 years I played at area nightclubs including The Daily Planet, Ziggurat, and poolside at Fife's Resort. In 1999 I became resident DJ at Club Fab on the Russian River where I had the opportunity to meet and perform with many nationally known DJ's and learn from their various styles including Jamie J. Sanchez, Dave Matthias, Matt Consola, Frank Abraham, Lydia Prim, and Blackstone. I have also performed in San Francisco with top Bay Area DJ's Page Hodel, David Harness, Olga Texidor, Anita Lofton, and Phil B. One of the greatest influences has been my friend Hosh G., whose love for dance music got me interested & involved in DJ culture in 1981.
