About DJ Galen
The heartbeat of San Francisco can be heard resonating throughout its narrow streets, although few can call that heartbeat their own. As a native, Galen has grown and evolved with this city, its sound, and more importantly, the community that represents the melding of the two.
As a catalyst, that record served as the inspiration to pursue his growing musical relationship, and he ultimately closed the chapter of competitive swimming. Accustomed to rigorous training and practice, Galen's talent gained momentum, and when it was combined with his natural knack for organization, PacificSound was born, its namesake serving as homage to the record that changed so much in his world.
In March of 1994, overlooking the bay at the Berkeley Marina, Galen and PacificSound presented the first of the now legendary Sunset parties. For over 12 years and with more than 150 free outdoor parties under their belt, Sunset has gathered a diverse group of music lovers, sometimes by the thousands, for an afternoon and evening of dance, community, and celebration under the sun. The success and unparalleled vibe of Sunset led to the expansion of PacificSound's events, including the infamous Sunset boat parties on the San Francisco Bay, that have been sailing strong for over a decade, not to mention their much revered Indian Summer Campouts. Collaborative club and underground events with fellow production crews, notably Stompy and Green Gorilla Lounge, also became staples in the San Francisco underground scene.
Although definitely a hometown staple, playing nearly every weekend, his notoriety has also landed him guest slots at events throughout the United States, and internationally in; the UK, France, Italy, China, Canada, and Mexico. Over the years he has played along side such renowned talents as Doc Martin, Derrick Carter, Sasha & Digweed, Louie Vega, Mark Farina, Rob Mello, Chris Duckenfield, and countless others. Galen's style however, is not easily categorized.
